Open Opens a waveform file. The following file formats are supported: Windows RIFF (.wav), Userdefined (*.*), NeXT/Sun (*.AU; *.SND) and Apple AIFF (*.AIF; *.SND)

File Open Settings...

Close The currently opended waveform file will be closed.

Save Saves the currently opened sound file under the current name.

Save As... Saves the currently opened sound file under a new file name. If there is a marked section one can either only save the marked section or the entire file (answer the question Save the marked section only? with No). Besides the standard *.WAV format one can select the *.AU, *.AIF or *.TXT format.

Record The Record command records sounds from a soundcard or an external USB audio interface. Use the command File > Soundcard settings... to select the sampling frequency, the bith depth and the (maximum) recording time. A real-time spectrogram display window will appear while the recording process is running. The recording process can be canceled pematurely by pressing the stop button .

Playback Plays back the currently selected section of the soundfile. If there is no section marked, the whole file or the visible part of the file is being played

Stop Stops the playback prematurely.

Edit title... Launches an edit box for inputting a descriptive text for the sound file. This title will be saved into the .wav file header and may be displayed on exported spectrogram images.

New Instance Launches another instance of the software.

Exit Terminates the software.
